PROGRESSIVE DEMOCRATS ENDORSE KATJANA BALLANTYNE AS CANDIDATE FOR WARD 7 ALDERMAN

According to the Progressive Democrats' press release, PDS is proud to endorse challenger Katjana Ballantyne for Ward 7 Alderman. As the former President of Somerville Community Corporation, Katjana cares about keeping Somerville affordable for all residents and families. Katjana, who sees environmental stewardship as both a street-by-street necessity and a global imperative, has said that as Alderman she will focus on local issues that improve quality of life, and quality of community, for residents of Ward 7 in Sommerville.

KATJANA BALLANTYNE ADVANCES TO GENERAL ELECTION

According to the unofficial Ward 7 preliminary results, reported on the City of Somerville ’s website, Katjana Ballantyne will advance to the general election in November to challenge the incumbent alderman in Ward 7.

The voting results: 532 for Katjana Ballantyne, 541 for the incumbent and 187 to the second challenger show that Katjana and the current Alderman each earned approximately 42% of the vote and that the vote for change is 719 to 541, or almost 60% of the vote.

Katjana said that “the vote count shows that the voters in Ward 7 have responded positively to our campaign for open, inclusive government, affordability for all and local jobs,” she added that, “these numbers also show a clear mandate for change.” Click here for the full Press Release

My nomination papers are complete! My name will be printed on the official ballot for Ward 7 Alderman! The city elections department just phoned me – all the signatures are certified.Thank you to the 120+ voters of Ward 7 who signed my nomination papers and to my campaign volunteers who were out door-knocking with me! I am really looking forward to campaigning!
